Module Description

This module was originally developed and organized by the Dartmouth College Pre-Vets Society in conjunction with VetMedAcademy. The module focuses on topics of interest to those considering application to veterinary school, and networking and information sharing are strongly encouraged.

Within the module, students can find a number of features including
Pre-Vet Chatroom and asynchronous Pre-Vet Forum through which students can connect and share their experiences, offer guidance, and update each other as to their career progress. In addition, students can consult the many educational resources included in the module. A database and the VMA Vet Admissions Guide (AI) assistant detail admissions information for a number of United States accredited DVM programs make creating a streamlined list of prerequisite coursework easier than ever.

This new module also features a number of veterinary terminology quizzes. These quizzes, based upon a provided textbook, are designed to help build basic competencies for undergraduates looking to begin shadowing work in veterinary hospitals, as well as those looking to enter veterinary school with a strong foundation of medical terminology.

Blended Learning and Critical Thinking

Module Description

Learn about flipping content and blended learning, all with the goal of creating more time for instructor-student interaction over critical clinical thinking activities. This resource module is designed for a learner to understand the principles of this form of student-centered learning, and also designed for instructors to possibly use all or part of the module to learn or teach about this subject, particularly as it relates to medical scientific topics, such as in veterinary medicine. This module includes links to external resources, including example blended learning materials, and to web platforms useful for an instructor to facilitate active learning such as veterinary case analysis exercises for the Applied Learning Platform and CyberScholar multimedia writing/peer and AI review platform. The content will be soon emphasizing the role of competency-based veterinary education and the positive use of AI tools.
